Nairobi Expressway ESIA report (Part I)

Public Commenting Period on the Environmental & Social Impact Assessment Study Report (ESIA Report) for the proposed Nairobi Expressway now open.

On Monday 24 February 2020, the National Environmental Management Authority of Kenya published a notice in the Standard inviting public comments on the ESIA Report for the proposed Nairobi Expressway project.

Concerns have been raised about the project’s potential impacts on Nairobi’s iconic Uhuru Park and other public open spaces, as well as the expressway’s inaccessibility to most Nairobi residents given the proposed toll to access the road.

Members of the public have thirty (30) days, that is until 25 March 2020, to submit oral and written comments to the Director General of the National Environment Management Authority under the reference – NEMA/EIA/5/2/1688
