Comments: EIA application for 2D seismic surveys in Kavango

Natural Justice registered as an Interested & Affected Party in response to the publishing an the the Final Environmental Impact Assessment Report to Support the Application for Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) for the Proposed 2D Seismic Survey in Kavango, in Northern Namibia. This was published due to the activities of ReconAfrica, who are doing exploration drilling in Namibia. See attached our comments submitted to the environmental practitioner.

Natural Justice commented on the 1) need and desirability, 2) baseline survey, 3) impacts on animals, 4) impacts on migratory species, 5) inadequate mitigation measures 6) intergenerational equity, 7) climate change concerns 8) failure to consider free, prior and informed consent of local and indigenous people, and 8) lack of consideration of international commitments.
