Commenting on Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for oil and gas projects

Drilling for oil and gas off the coastline of South Africa could affect sea life, seawater, and the way coastal communities live and earn a living. South African law gives all interested and affected persons (I&APs), including communities, the right to have a say and share their thoughts about how this could affect them. You have a right to comment on this process.

Before any exploration or drilling can begin, companies must obtain an Environmental Authorisation (EA). This process includes an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), sometimes called an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA).

This guide will show you how to submit comments.
