Natural Justice submitted comments on the draft Environmental (Strategic Assessment, Integrated Impact Assessment and Audit) Regulations, 2017 for Kenya.
We have observed that the notice to advertise comments on the draft regulations were made in the Nation newspaper on the 28 April, 2017 only. We understand that this should have also been advertised in the Gazette. We have heard from many groups and organizations that they were unaware of the comments period. This is concerning given the importance of public participation in this process.
Whilst we have provided some comments, we also requested that comments be opened for a further 30 days to allow greater conversation and participation in the formation of the Regulations.
