Factsheet: October 2026 – Karpowerships in Mozambique

Floating Electricity Production Plants or “Powerships” are looking to Mozambique as an investment opportunity.

A Powership is a floating thermoelectric power plant designed for short- to medium term electricity supply. The ship is equipped with gas turbines or diesel engines, like land-based thermal power plants to generate electricity.

We are currently at the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) stage. Interested and affected parties can make their voices heard by submitting comments in a public participation process.

The deadline to submit comments is 29 October 2026.
