John Ekai is a Community Environment Legal Officer (CELO) at Natural Justice based in Turkana County, Kenya. Ekai educates project-affected communities in the oil region of Turkana on land rights, environmental rights, and social rights. He has been defending the rights of indigenous pastoral communities since 2016.
Ekai is passionate about promoting and protecting human rights, especially in indigenous communities hosting national and multinational projects. He has been instrumental in building community-based organizations, some now playing a key role in helping locals in Turkana speak clearly about their involvement in development projects.
