The Bushbuckridge BCP was drafted in 2009 by the Kukula Traditional Health Practitioners of Bushbuckridge with support from the Kruger-to-Canyons Biosphere Reserve Management Committee and Natural Justice: Lawyers for Communities and the Environment. It has been used to gain government recognition, reduce over-harvesting and to increase healers’ access to protected areas. It is also being used to negotiate with a cosmetics company to develop a product based on the healers’ knowledge.
