David Mtshali joined Natural Justice as a senior programme officer in the Southern African Hub in August 2023. He forms part of the Defending Rights programmatic stream.
David Mtshali is a human rights lawyer and an admitted attorney of the high court of South Africa with a right of appearance in the High Court. He has a Master of Laws degree in Child Law from the University of Pretoria and a Bachelor of Laws degree from North West University.
Prior to joining Natural Justice, he was with the Legal Resources Centre for more than four years as a land attorney, focusing on land tenure rights, restitution of land rights and traditional leadership and governance. He also worked at the Centre for Child Law for three years as a candidate attorney, and later as a legal support staff focusing on children’s rights. In both the LRC and CCL, he was engaged in strategic litigation.
