Sherelee Odayar joined Natural Justice in October 2021 as the Community Environmental Legal Officer Coordinator, based in the Southern African Hub.
Sherelee is from Durban, South Africa, and has a BSc (Honours) in Environmental Science from the University of South Africa and a BSocSci in Geography and Environmental Management from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. She has interned at the eThekwini Municipality under the waste management sector. From there, she worked at the South Durban Community Environmental Alliance (SDCEA) as the Oil and Gas and Energy project officer.
She has worked extensively on the “No to offshore Oil and Gas” campaign, promoting healthy oceans and sustainable livelihoods, as well working to promote the rights of subsistence fishers in Kwa-Zulu Natal . Through SDCEA, Sherelee has worked with many groups across Africa on environmental justice, climate change and lobbying the extractive industry.
