Gino Cocchiaro is the Director of Programs and Development, working from the Core team from January 2022. He has been with Natural Justice for many years, most recently as the Director of the Kenya Hub, as well as the Director of the Extractives and Infrastructure Programme at Natural Justice.
He is legally trained and has supported communities to participate in environmental decision making processes in Southern Africa and Kenya. He coordinated the Community Protocol Initiative for Natural Justice, which worked with communities in seven African countries, and managed the traditional knowledge protection project for the International Development Law Organisation in 2009.
After completing his law degree in Australia he worked as a solicitor and barrister specialising in criminal law. Gino is a graduate of the South Australian Governors Leadership Foundation and received an Australian Future Summit Leadership award in 2007.
